Zibits Mini R/C Robots Review and Giveaway

I recently had a chance to review Zibits Mini R/C Robot. They sent me Gek, the green Junk Bits to review. I honestly did not think Libby would like it because it's more like for boy's toy than a girl toy and knowing her she's very girly girl!

I was totally wrong! She loves Zibits! She can't get enough of it. I think she loves it even more that it is small and she can bring it anywhere she wants. (It's about 2 inches) It's also very easy to control. She has no problem going forward, reversing or turning. She loves to make it turn 360 degree! She controls it while Emma chases it! It also has a sound and light effects.

My 3 years old nephew had a chance to play with it also and really enjoyed playing with it. In fact he asked Libby if he can have it. Of course my dear Libby said "NO".

There are about 12 different kinds of Zibits. And they are very affordable. You can purchase them for $9.99 each and they are available at Toys "R" Us. So your kids can easily collect them all. They are also great for presents. (Think Christmas stocking stuffers!)

Super Healthy Lunch Food for Kids

Moms everywhere are starting to plan healthy lunches to pack their kids and this year, one brain boosting food is making a comeback – seaweed! The Wall Street Journal recently ran an article about the nutritional benefits of seaweed and how parents can get their kids to eat seaweed. And last Friday, NBC Nightly News with Chuck Scarborough had nutritionist Mary Gocke from the Center for Health and Healing in New York on his show, who was quoted in the WSJ article, as a guest to talk about why she recommends seaweed for mothers and children (online video here and embed link here)… Chuck even tried seaweed himself, live on air!

Did you know that seaweed contains tons of iodine and that iodine is key to growth in children? Or that a lack of iodine will affect brain development in a fetus? Seaweed can be found in groceries stores nationwide (with Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s being especially seaweed friendly).

Below are Mary’s top 5 reasons for why seaweed is a super healthy food for both adults and children and some recipe suggestions for fun, unique ways to incorporate seaweed in your kid’s diet (after all, getting them to eat it is probably the most important/hardest part!).

Mary Gocke from the Continuum Center for Health and Healing in New York, offers these reasons for why sea vegetables such as seaweed make for the perfect, healthy food:

1. Seaweed is loaded with minerals – calcium, iodine, potassium, iron, sodium.

2. Children benefit from seaweed because of its high iodine content - iodine makes up thyroid hormones which are needed for growth and development.

3. Pregnant and nursing moms should eat seaweed – iodine is necessary for brain development in fetuses and newborns.

4. Seaweed is popular in many coastal countries – not just Asia but also South America and has been for centuries.

5. Seaweed has cancer-protective plant compounds – lignan and fucans.

You might not think your kids will be very interested in seaweed, but after trying these recipes below, you just might change the whole family’s mind…

• · Nori Omelette – You don’t have even have to wait until lunch to feed your kids a brain boost meal, start with a nori omelette breakfast! Key ingredients: eggs, carrots, nori and onion. I'm switching to cloth diapers!

I have always wanted to try cloth diapers since Libby was a baby. But because I worked part time then and we don't have laundry machine at home, I decided it was not for us. It was not practical to wash outside 3 or 4 times a week and paying $2.25 per load plus drying. I might as well pay $6 for a pack of diapers (after sales) Now that I hardly work and budget is tight, I decided to use cloth diapers to save money. We still live in the same apartment and we still don't have laundry machine and even if I want to get one, I can't. There is no access to put one :( I know it is going to be hard and a lot of work. I'm just thankful that my husband is willing to support me with this decision.

Because I am going to be hand washing cloth diapers, I have been doing a lot of research on which diapers I should get. I want a diaper that is easy to wash and dries quickly. Remember I will be air/hang dry them also. I decided to go for gDiapers but I will not be using their disposable liners. It seems like gDiapers is the way to go for now since I'm new to cloth diapering. My sister used it for her son and loved it. With gDiapers I can use pretty much any inserts I want. They even carry their own cloth inserts. My sister used the Gerber prefolds and she had no problem with it and those prefolds are very affordable. I also purchased some Babykicks Joey-Bunz from CSN using the $50 gift card that I won last month. It actually came today and I'm super excited to start using it!

If you noticed I have not been posting lately. I have been so busy researching about cloth diapers. I've read tons of reviews and videos of cloth diapers. They are so many informations out there. I am overwhelmed! I never knew there are so many kinds of cloth diapers..prefolds, fitted, AIO, pockets and so on and not to mention tons of different companies that offer them. How to pick the right diaper? I don't know exactly. I guess the best way is to try until I find one.

One of my concern is that I don't know what detergent to use. I'm actually confuse because one site may say this is the best detergent to use and another site say it's not safe and they are talking about the same kind! Also, I don't see a lot of informations about hand washing cloth diapers. All washing directions are for using machine. Sometimes it makes me wonder if am I the only crazy person to plan to hand wash cloth diapers???

I guess you will be hearing more of my journey to cloth diapering. This is basically try and error. But I know for sure I will not give up....

Dancing with her Tutu

Last week Busy Working Mama made a tutu for her little girl and it was the cutest! I have always wanted to make one for Libby but I thought it involved sewing and honestly I don't know how! She posted some tutorials and after finding out how easy it is, I know I have to make one for my daughter.

It was so much fun making one. Libby even helped me! I'm planning to make another one...this time for Emma.
