I love anything with coconuts. As a matter of fact, I just had coconut juice today. We also use coconut milk in many of our dishes. I think it has a lot to do with growing up in a tropical island. Recently I came across Tropical Traditions. I thought it was odd why I never heard of them since their products are made from the Philippines, where I was born and grew up. I shop in an Asian Store every month, and I never seen their products, only until I started blogging and entering giveaways.
I was sent their Virgin Coconut Oil to try out. Although a lot of our cooking are with coconuts, I never really used coconut oil before. So I just used it just like I normally use any oil or butter. The first thing I noticed when I opened it is that it is thick but once you put it on a hot pan it melted right away, so you really just need a little bit. The coconut oil gives off a lovely aroma as its cooks. I was surprised that it did not make my chicken taste like coconut. So don't worry that when cooking with coconut oil, everything will taste like coconut! However, I did noticed that there are certain food that you can taste a hint of coconut in it, specially on sweets. Another thing I like about coconut oil is that it is much healthier because when it’s heated it does not create toxic trans fatty acids.
