I never made home made baby food for Olivia when she was a baby. I've always wanted to but I was working full time as a nurse and I just did not have the time. I've always thought making home made baby food was hard and time consuming. I did bought her only organic baby foods.
Now that I only work on weekends, I decided this time I'm going to try making home made baby food for Emma. We all know the benefit of home made baby food. They are just healthier and so much better. But honestly, I did not know how to even start.
When I came across Fresh Baby and they claim that making baby food is easy and you only need 30 minutes a week, I knew I have to try it. I was thrilled that they sent me their So Easy Baby Food Kit to review.
The Kit includes
Cookbook: covers introducing solid food, includes over 40 recipes, hundreds of serving suggestions, and is all organized by age. (Hardcover, 118 pages). It also has place for you to write notes and to keep record when you introduced certain food.
Freezer trays: designed for storing baby food in pre-portioned one ounce servings to simplify meal time and reduce waste. (2 trays and 2 lids, spill-proof, stackable, dishwasher-safe). It is very sturdy and it has a cover making them easy to store in the freezer. I love that is is BPA and phthalate free!
How-to DVD: offers step-by-step instruction - from selecting the right produce - to making baby food - to serving it. It is 22 minutes long. It tells you everything you ever wanted to know about making your own baby food.
Nutrition tips card: gives you tips on the best sources of nutrients, introducing foods by age, first aid for choking, and more. It is waterproof. Therefore, you can keep it in the kitchen and you don't have to worry if it gets wet or ruined.
I love this kit. I wished I had this kit when Olivia was a baby. If only I've known how easy it is to make your own baby food and you only need a little time a week, I would have made home-made baby food for Olivia.
What I love about making home-made baby food:
- I love that I can pick my own fruits or vegetables and there is no additives, preservatives or chemicals added.
- The taste is just so much better since it is fresh! Honestly, I would not taste jarred baby food but with home-made, I would not mind eating it!
- It is healthier.
- It is fun! I would never thought making you're own baby food is fun.
- Good for the environment. There are no waste such as jars, lids, or plastic to dispose or recycle.
- It can saves you money even with buying all organics. It will only cost you about $55 a year compare to $300!
