Door to Door Organics Review plus Coupon Code

Door to Door Organics provided me with a gift card to try out their service

I have been a proponent of healthy eating for the last several years. The desire to lose weight for various reasons and issues tied down to the treatment of animals for consumption eventually lead me to not eating pork or beef and instead focus on eating whole fruits and vegetables with minimal processing. The last year or so became an adventure on looking for sources of organic, wholesome food.

Although organic food is starting to become present in the mainstream supermarkets, it is still not as widespread as one would hope. Often, my wife and I would shop once a week in different locations as one store might have an organic version of the food that the other might not have. This pattern of shopping continued on until we happen to stumble on a website called Door to Door Organics in Facebook, they are a company that deliver fresh, organic food, straight to your door. We contacted them and decided to try their service.

The first step in making your order is to check if the service applies to your area. Next you have to pick the size from little, small, medium to large box of either all vegetables, fruits or a combination of both. There are descriptions of the amount of food in each sizes to give you an approximate picture of how long each box will last throughout the week.  There is also an option to substitute certain food items if you desire. As an option, you can also add other food items for an additional price, these ranges from dairy, meat, bread and pretty much anything that you would want in your pantry. Its important to note that most of these items are organic, non-gmo and are locally sourced. You can arrange the frequency of your deliveries to weekly or bi weekly. The subscription can be put on hold or even cancelled so there are absolutely no commitments.

After 2 weeks of using this service, I have to say that their service is excellent and the products, amazing. The first time we opened the box, there was instant ooh's and aah's from my kids and I. The fruits and vegetables were fresh and clean, the outside of the box was also clearly labeled with the items inside. Due to the availability of some of the food items, once in a while they will not be able to get a particular fruit or vegetable in your order and a note stating that will be present in the box as well as crediting back the missed item in your account.

Door to Door Organics is a great idea if you want to eat better and healthier (also a great way to introduce kids to fruits and vegetables that won't be otherwise available in your regular grocery store.), the fact that the actual delivery is free, along with freshness of the food items delivered speaks volumes to the quality of their service. If you want to try them out, here's a coupon code for $10 off your first order: LUV2SAVE1415T

These are what my kids has to say:

Olivia (7 yrs old) : "I love eating pomegranates! ( First time she, or anyone of us, tried it)"
Emma (5 yrs old) : "The tangerines explode with flavor in your mouth!"
Sophia (3 yrs old) : "Bananas are yummy!"

First week we ordered the Medium Mix Box

Second Week: We ordered the Large Mix Box

First Step to Financial Peace of Mind with Capital One 360

I never really thought about my financial goals when I was younger, financial peace of mind was something far away from my mind. That changed now that I am older and have children of my own. Its funny how your perception and your goals change when you and your partner are in charge solely of your financial destiny.

One way of getting a step ahead to financial peace of mind is starting an emergency fund. It is well advised that you have at least, the very minimum, $1000 or even better, 3 months worth of salary. Three months is a very good buffer for those things that can come up and unknowingly dampen your financial situation. This can range to unexpected expenses deductible from an auto accident from an insurance, or losing your or your spouses job, or someone getting sick in the family. It is specially important for those who have one person as a sole source of income, such as my own family, as the pressure for constant cash flow rests only on that individual.

For us, we initially paid the minimum amount of bills required so we were able to set aside a small amount ($100 I remember) and our goal was to get $1000. I know it's easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of the holiday season and lose sight of the goals, but cutting down on little things (using coupons to shop, cutting down on your trips to your barista) can help you stay track on your finances.

Speaking of saving time and money, check out Capital One 360's Black Friday Sale, they offer remote deposit capture with Capital One 360's CheckMate tool and make savings a snap with the Automatic Savings Plan. Their 360 Checking and 360 Savings are fee-free and earn interest and are designed to save consumers time and money. From online to their mobile app, Capital One 360 is with customers 24/7.

Plush Bible Collection, NIV

This Plush Bible Collection is great for kids and teens. I know kids and teens don't like to carry bible anymore when going to church and prefer using a Bible app on their phone or iPads instead. The cover is a plush, pink and black leopard design with sparkles. The fun design makes them want to bring a Bible to church instead of using an app. Any girls would love this Bible. I gave this to my 11 year old niece and she loved it. She said finally she has a cute and fun Bible instead of the plain and black one she has.

Aside from the design, I really like that this bible is NIV. The words of Christ is in red. The font is just the right size and measures less than one inch thick.

Kidorable Review and Giveaway

*Product sample received*

Our family started this blog more than 4 years ago. I've worked with a lot of companies since then for product reviews. And I can honestly say that one of my favorite companies that I've worked with is Kidorable. If you are looking for rain gears for kids I highly recommend them. Not only they are cute and adorable they are functional and great quality.

About four years ago, we reviewed their Lucky Cat rain gear (rain coat, umbrella, and boots). My eldest (she was 3 then) loved it. Since then it has been handed down to my second daughter, and now my youngest. The quality is just amazing. The rain coat still looks almost brand new. There are no rips or fading. The boots are also still in perfect condition. The umbrella recently just broke, only because my 3 year old stepped on it while it was open. So for the quality I give them 5 stars!!

Olivia when she was 3 and Sophia

They recently sent me their newest collection Mermaid. I received their rain coat, umbrella, and boots. First thing I noticed is that they made changes to their rain coats. It's now made of PU with nylon lining. The material is softer and feels more comfortable to wear. I really like that they added prints on their linings.

The Mermaid rain coat has printed sea shells on their lining. It has two pockets, mermaid scales, and sea star buttons. The bottom is a shape of mermaid tail. They really paid attention to the details. And since it is made of soft PU it can be worn as a light jacket, perfect for fall and spring. Their rain coat also comes with a hanger.

Their boots are the cutest boots! It has a little mermaid tail on the back. They are very well made and durable. They are also very easy to clean. My girls are only allowed to jump in muddy puddles when they are wearing their kidorable boots.

I love their umbrella. They are also very well made. I've purchased other kids umbrella in the past and they never last very long. Our Lady Cat umbrella however lasted almost 4 years.

I love every details of their Mermaid umbrella, the tail and the seahorse handle. My girls have no problem opening and closing it on their own.

Kidorable definitely makes a great gift this Christmas. Your kids will love them! They have styles for both girls and boys. They also have knit hats, scarves, gloves, plus towels, backpacks and hangers.

Connect with them on Facebook and Twitter

Giveaway - Kidorable is giving one of my readers an umbrella of your choice!

Holiday Gift Guide: 100 Fairytale Princesses

*Product Sample Received. This post contains affiliate link*

This month Parragon Books sent me two books to review. One of them is the 100 Fairytale Princesses.  My girls love anything princesses so this book was a huge hit in our home. It includes over 400 stickers and stencils. Your child can use the stickers and stencils to make princess tiara and fairy godmother wand. They can decorate ballrooms and ball gowns, transform pumpin into carriage and frogs into princes. They can also design palaces and thrones and so much more!

The book is divided into 5 tabs (Pretty Princesses, Sparkling Jewels, Party Princesses, Fairytale Fun and Princess and Palaces) My girls have not done all the activities in this book yet because there are just so many things to do in this book. Their favorite is making Rapunzel's bookmark, decorating their own tiaras, creating mini carriage, and making your own Cinderella doll.

Adventure Time: Finn the Human on DVD 11/25

Whose ready for adventure! In Adventure Time: Finn the Human, join Finn and his buddy Jake the dog in this DVD following their adventures in the land of Ooo. As a fan of this Cartoon Network smash hit series, this DVD comes jam-packed with 16 hilarious episodes from fan favorite seasons.

Created by Pendleton Ward, this Emmy nominated series that plays on Cartoon Network on Mondays at 7:30 pm and replays throughout the week follows the everyday adventures a pair of unlikely heroes , Finn the Human and Jake, his shapeshifting dog friend. Watch as they travel the land of Ooo and encounter strange creatures such as the Ice King, Princess Bubblegum, and Marceline the vampire Queen.

My daughters and I are fans of this show, they are reminiscent of dungeon and dragons type of adventure show with a sci fi and magical feel. Finn, as the last remaining, non mutated, human lives by an honor code, helping the innocent, and trying to be a force of good, with his friend/ adoptive brother Jake, a talking dog imbued with shapeshifting properties. My daughters love the funny adventures and storyline, and there are lessons that you can derive from the show (such as keeping your word and helping out a friend) despite its whimsical nature. We often use one liners and jokes from the show, such as " Mathematical !" and " redudiculous", my daughters and I sometimes do the Finn and Jake "Trust pound" when in agreement over something.

Beginning November 25, 2014 for only $24.98, fans will be able to get nearly 3 hours of content and an exclusive Finn backpack (wear it for Halloween or Comic con as him), perfect for this holiday season and a must have for your Adventure Time fan.
